All makeup off.
This is a song about and for my daughter to listen to. It is meant to be kinda makeup-less. The notes aren't perfect, the recording quality is mild, but I wanted to do a different sound that captured the simplicity of the early days with our daughter.
All sounds are original, which is a change for me recently.
It's hard to record with a crying baby in the house all the time. Plus, I've always wanted to memorialize my grandmother's 1950's Kohler & Campbell Waldorf upright piano she gave me, because I know I won't have it forever... or for very long at all actually.
So, I created a sample library of sorts of the piano, which is very very badly in need of a tuning, but this is worked into the music as an aesthetic. I also prepared the piano with a variety of metal, rubber, and trinkets.
I did the same for the Gretsch Kit (7 Piece) my wife got me for my 32nd birthday that I haven't done much with, until now. Some cheap hi hats that do the trick and we are cookin'.
So each and every little atom of the music you hear has been hand placed there. Neat!
