about

Work in progress, started 5/7/2013.

This album is entitled "The Swayed" and is in compositional dialogue with the title of a past song; "Heirs to the Ease, Sway Us". That was written (lyrically at least) out of an existentially suspected need to exit what I took to be a sheltered existence, established by an upper-middle-class upbringing within academic institutions. "The Swayed" is a direct response. The responder counts himself as having sufficiently been in the real world, and sets to meditation the damages incurred and the lessons gained.

Track Name: Lightpipe
In such memories I've found
It is not safe to move your eyes
I'm reborn of your own wishing
And such memories abound
But it gives me nothing
Fear's nowhere by my soul; black the walls within it
Fear's nowhere by my soul
A weep a splendid marsh she marched on
Reason it malnourished
A world warm and sparse
Fear can waste it all for naught
Ah, weeping splendid heart she marched on
Jesus it's malnourished
A world warm and sparse
Fear can waste it all for naught
It was all within herself
Unbearable things took flight
on Frost from Wings of Valkyries.
I'm reborn of your own wishing, gives me nothing
And raise arms against this anomaly,
We'd remember us.
Track Name: Spirant
Golden cords
Line suggestion
Speak directions
To the feel of curling toes
Twined beneath sheet
She leans forward
Rested elbow she's well over
The soft pillowed cloth
Her doe-eyes, her dove-like flutter
Be my jacuzzi, be my jacuzzi
Like the sea's foam
Like morning-after rain
Like commands worth taking
Whispin' over tan, covered shoulder bare
Mouthful of innocence
Give me more
You're at perfection
Begat inspection
Glad detection of golden cords
Twined beneath sheet,
She goes under cover
You're so winsome that I'll
Excuse the venom somehow
Mouthful of innocence
Clicks wash round sibilance.
Be my jacuzzi, be my jacuzzi.
Track Name: Dawn Chorus
I know a perfect place that we could fit in
Eye to eye in the dark oblivious to sin
Oblivious to how time flies
And how the more I think, the less I realize

But all is what you make of it, is all

I know a human race that doesn't understand
Eye to eye with the cross with wings made of sand
Oblivious to how sight blinds
They com-modify our souls so they can advertise.

But all is what you make of it, is all.

(Chorus from previous track, "Spirant"):
Like the sea's foam
Like morning-after rain
Like commands worth taking
Whispin' over tan, covered shoulder bare
Mouthful of innocence

I know a perfect place where we can fit in (live in/be friends)
Eye to eye with the cross and wings made of sand
I'll take you to this place where could live in
But I'm found in the real world, and that doesn't swim.
Track Name: Lacuna
to me
the point is to discover them
the truth is to find them
one for the ages

One for the ages
the truth is defined in
youth for the blinded
one for the ages
one for the ages
another for the ageless
youth of the sages

to me truth is not some vague foggy notion
truth is real
and at the same time, unreal

fiction and fact and everything in between
plus some things i can't remember
to me

The impossible often has a kind of
integrity to it
which the merely improbable lacks

truth is the cry of all / the truth is to find it
but the game of the few / the point is to discover them

The general welfare is not the sphere of truth

to me
to me
to me
one for the ages
one for the ages
another for the ageless
none for the aimless
one for the ages
one for the ages
one for the ages

the point is to discover them
the truth is to find them
one for the ages
one for the ages
truth is defined in
youth of the blinded
youth of the sages
youth of the ages
one for the aimless
one for the ages
one for the ages

to me
to me
to me
to me truth is not some vague foggy notion
truth is real
and at the same time, unreal

fiction and fact and everything in between
plus some things i can't remember
rolled up into
one
big
thing
there is some fiction in your truth
and some truth in your fiction
and to know the truth you must risk everything

one for the ages
one for the ages
one for the ages
one for the ages
one for the ages
one for the ages
Track Name: Rise and Blind
Wake up its night time
It's time to rise tonight
Rise and blind
This time/it's time
(No) I don't wanna take you out for awkward glances over pie
What if I decide to be lonely, sick of playin' my part
What if I decide no one fits the bill
Run until dawn
Track Name: Order Up the Phoenix
Feel the humanity
With a tendril-scarred heart
And a semblance of sunlight
In life with the dark
What the hell is going on out there?
Blind percussionist of blood,
I impute love and care
Where is one who I can adore?
Where is one who I can love?
Can no one see the music for the window that it is?

Feel the humanity
With a semblance of decency
It was too much to ask of this one.

Where'd you learn to be so cold?
Your name causes me great pain I'd rather not hear it
I should have known.

Feel the humanity
With a semblance of heart
And a sickness for sunlight.
Track Name: New Eyes (Beautiful Girl)
Beautiful girl, please tell me you're in the mood tonight
to explore new eyes, and watch as they fall down with your dress
I slip into a black hole while we lay on the floor
our ears to the ground like headphones half-worn

(HUU! HAA!! haaaiiiee. haaaaahhhhh)

I'm looking for something and whatever it is I know isn't inside my door
so I balance just outside centered on redemption and remorse
centered on adventure and remorse

centered on redemption and divorce
centered on admission and remorse
centered on prevention and discourse
centered on remission and recourse
Track Name: Oh Lovey (Beauty Unbidden)
(Verse 1)
It's not unusual to fall for affection,
It has been with us since time
The nature of a woman is commitment
So is that of one who is mine (x2)
Oh lovely

So much of you raptures my gaze,
To you I could pray and worship for days
Oh lovely
You're beauty's unbidden but welcome to me,
You're the element of purity, dedication,
Oh lovely

(Chorus)
You're my goddess and religion
You're my love
Let me render you in marble.
Oh lovely

(Verse 2)
It's not unusual to fall for a fiction
I am not worthy to see the flesh you wear
Feel the air your breathe,
Oh lovely (x3).

Kept in the abstract, never to be
Plagued by reality, kept from me
I would have it no other way
Impossible you stay, wholly apart
Your image will never be falsened from art, dedication
Oh lovely.

(Chorus)
Track Name: The Swayed (Aye-Ball)
(Love)
In the likes of your hearts all
All above heights, try to take it in the right light:
You can't run, there's nowhere left to hide
But in His arms that reach out.
This is the way the illuminated door,
I was led to a next-world
(Oh yes) A missed sign, a naked eyeball hides me
Heirs to the ease, sway us
Track Name: The 19 Year Long War (Cover of Arionis' "Act 1")
(Lyrics, by Hudson McCain)

Take a breath
Do not be afraid
No, you will not fight alone
Fight we must,
We can't let the empire destroy our hope in love

My sight, I see
With my eyes all I see is deception
Although it seems hopeless
And now my breath
I can breathe but only in fractions of the air you stole from me

Must we die so young?
Do you believe in sacrifice?
Do you believe in what we're dying for?
(Steady your hands, ready your rifles, men
Never look back, we are never looking back)
So we burn the lights of surrounding cities
To illuminate the path that we must travel
We will fight until their temples fall to pieces
And cast away their crowns made of stone

My only passion tonight is to take this to the grave.

The 19 year long war has finally ended,
The Rebellion succeeded.
But now it would seem that we are
Without loss or pain but it's strange
The days have grown so longer
And the nights more unbearable than ever
We have lost our purpose
We are at a stand-still,
Do we turn this page or slowly wither away?
Track Name: Bloodletting
Bloodletting
Imagine it: a lifetime away from everything you've known
No family holidays
No going here or there with anything in mind
No going here or there at any given time
Just an amusing refusal to stop it
It all taken by a refusal to stop a bleeding clock
It all taken by a refusal to rise
From that wreckage others dumped
To the shrapnel that homes
To that part of you that thumps
Somewhere deep in your bones
I forgot what it is called
Oh damn what's that term?
...That red thing that objects
When others tell you "squirm!"
Don't worry it is for the best
We'll just let all of your blood out
Why don't you try and rest
The problem is you
You're to blame for this
Why they've blistered you
And crippled your good name
Why they mangled and abused
The good out of your bones
They pinched out your nerves and set them in stone
Imagine it: every one in stone.
