about
This song started with a reversal of a piano performance of Brian Wilson's "Our Prayer". It was modified to fit a strict tempo and the drums were lifted (originally a small part of) an old song of Nathan Wiginton's (of LMS) I had written for on the drum machine. The lyrics were initially a bit different and in a completely robotic voice. The rhythms from the robotic take were kept and integrated with melody. I added an auto-tune to harken to the original.
lyrics
(Verse 1)
It's not unusual to fall for affection,
It has been with us since time
The nature of a woman is commitment
So is that of one who is mine (x2)
Oh lovely
So much of you raptures my gaze,
To you I could pray and worship for days
Oh lovely
You're beauty's unbidden but welcome to me,
You're the element of purity, dedication,
Oh lovely
(Chorus)
You're my goddess and religion
You're my love
Let me render you in marble.
Oh lovely
(Verse 2)
It's not unusual to fall for a fiction
I am not worthy to see the flesh you wear
Feel the air your breathe,
Oh lovely (x3).
Kept in the abstract, never to be
Plagued by reality, kept from me
I would have it no other way
Impossible you stay, wholly apart
Your image will never be falsened from art, dedication
Oh lovely.
(Chorus)
