about

I rediscovered this song years after writing and recording it. I was pouring over random CDs cast about my house, looking for old forgotten Let's Manufacture Static material. After the first two clicks, and the first chord, I recalled it all. I was like a dog seeing an old friend after a long time. I had completely forgotten about this completed song! It was a great moment. And the song was pretty good as it was actually. So I picked it back up and updated it with a bit of production and ornaments.

This was written during the LMS era, and was maybe intended to be a song for the band to learn and play live.

The lyrics are somewhat in reference to a fling I had with a beautiful girl who had a free spirit and profound eyes. One night, we spent a few minutes listening to music while laying on the carpet, caught eyes, and just kept them there. Eyes can take on another universe all their own if looked into long enough.

lyrics

Beautiful girl, please tell me you're in the mood tonight
to explore new eyes, and watch as they fall down with your dress
I slip into a black hole while we lay on the floor
our ears to the ground like headphones half-worn

(HUU! HAA!! haaaiiiee. haaaaahhhhh)

I'm looking for something and whatever it is I know isn't inside my door
so I balance just outside centered on redemption and remorse
centered on adventure and remorse

centered on redemption and divorce
centered on admission and remorse
centered on prevention and discourse
centered on remission and recourse
